Meet the Staff of Fibre&Stitch

Sue Bleiweiss - Publisher
Mostly a self-taught fibre artist, I enjoy the process of experimenting with different techniques to discover what works.  This time spent experimenting has caused my work to evolve and change over the years and so have my interests in different elements of the textile arts.   Working with silk fusion has given me an endless source of enjoyment and I’m continually fascinated by how versatile a medium it is.  One of my current passions is the exploration of working in 3D using layered fabric and fibre surfaces and the combination of paper and fabric to create my own journals and sketchbooks.

Being able to share what I’ve learned through the exploration and experimentation of my work in fibre artistry by teaching is a great source of delight to me.   I love to see how my students interpret their own visions using the techniques that I have shared with them.

Sue Bleiweiss is a Fibre Artist living in Massachusetts, USA.  She has been published in a number of national magazines including several issues of Altered Couture and Belle Armoire by Stampington and Handwoven magazine.

She teaches a wide variety of online fibre art classes at Joggles.com.

Terri Stegmiller - Assistant Publisher
My passion for creating was instilled in me from a very early age. Mostly self taught, my creative journey has seen me explore a wide variety of mediums but
my primary focus now is working with fabric and fibre. I have recently started incorporating paper and other non-traditional elements into my pieces and have found that working in this style definitely appeals to me. I enjoy the additional factor of uniqueness and originality that mixed media art offers.

Terri Stegmiller is a Fibre Artist living in North Dakota, USA.

She has been published in Soft Dolls and Animals, Stampington's Haute Handbags 2 and 1,000 Artist Trading Cards.

Carol McFee - Staff Artist
For many years I expressed my love of fabrics through garment making.   Then in the ‘90’s I discovered textile art and for the next ten years took part in various textile related courses at the local college.  In 2001 I was invited to accept a work placement with GCSE Textile students to assist with their studies.   My main interest is in creating texture, using fabric, paper and paint. I love to explore new techniques to create interesting surfaces ready for stitch. I have had the privilege of exhibiting my work at the House of Commons in London.

Carol McFee is a Textile Artist living in North Wales, UK.

She holds City and Guilds Certificates in Creative Design and Embroidery and in Textile Decoration. Carol has exhibited her textile art extensively and has been published in Stampington's Salon magazine.  Visit Carol's blog at: http://textiletales.blogspot.com

A retired teacher whose main subject was art, Margaret Roberts holds a City and Guilds Certificate in Machine Knitting. She also taught machine knitting at a local college for many years. One of her specialties is altering digital images to use in, and inspire, her textile art pieces.  She has a unique talent for finding imagery in the colour and shade variations of hand dyed and painted cloth and uses her prolific skills as a hand and machine embroiderer to give those images form.

Margaret is a member of a textile group, Serentex, who meet and exhibit regularly. She has been published extensively in several magazines such as The World of Embroidery, Stitch and the Computer Textile Design Group magazine Design IT.
