Welcome to my little space on the web. I'm Sara, a designer-maker living in St Leonards on Sea on the south coast of the U.K. I have always had a passion for making. As a young girl I would sit next to my mother as she worked at her sewing machine, enthralled by whatever she made. I dreamed of one day becoming the owner of a creative business.
University education as a mature student gave me the confidence to finally realise my dream and in 2015 I founded my textile craft business, Fibreandstitch. I started out by showcasing my wares at craft fairs and events. I enjoyed these occasions enormously as they allowed me to meet and talk to new people. I also exhibited my products in selected local retail outlets and soon after, took the plunge to venture online. I opened shops on Etsy and Amazon Handmade and fortune allowed me to go full time with my business in 2017.
Inspiration
My obsessions include a love of all things lace and vintage, bringing joy and inspiration to my life. I find endless ways to express this passion by combining these elements to create unique home decorations that tell a story. Every lace trim and reclaimed fabric plays a crucial role in crafting vintage style and shabby chic accessories that radiate warmth and charm. I also enjoy designing lace gifts that are personal and thoughtful, ensuring they feel cherished. Well, lace must be included very much everywhere, as it seamlessly intertwines with my aesthetic, transforming even the simplest items into exquisite treasures that reflect my creative spirit.
